Adjusting to the Nelson Family
After three weeks, we're all still adjusting to the new Nelson family. We've had a lot more middle of the night visits with Aliya since we came home, which confirms how fortunate we were to see her adjust to her new life in our apartment in Karaganda.
And we've seen her adjust to some of the family activities like she's belonged here all along: she looks at us often with a big smile like "What took you guys so long?" She has taken to water, too. We're not sure that she ever had more than a sponge bath for her first eight months, then she went crazy in our apartment bathtub. And now she's a natural--swimming with Eric, who was the other kids' teacher when each of them was little. Now she's showing all three of them how it's done.
